Refillable Resort Mugs

Disney World Refillable Resort Mugs

All Disney World on property resorts sell refillable plastic mugs with a handle.

These mugs allow you to get soft drinks, coffee and tea at the self-service beverage stations located at all of the on property resorts.

Where can I get one?

These mugs can be purchased separately or as part of a Disney Dining Plan.  If you purchased a dining plan, you can pick up a mug at your resort’s quick service dining locations or  gift shop. You can also purchase a refillable mug at those locations if you DO NOT have a dining plan.

Where can I use the mug?

These mugs can be used ONLY at Disney World resorts. You CANNOT refill them inside the parks. You can, however, use them at ANY resort, not just the one that you are staying at.

Self-service beverage locations where the mugs can be refilled are generally located at:  gift shops, grab and go, quick service and or pool bars at the resorts.

There is also a mug wash station at every self-service beverage location.

How do they work?

The mugs are equipped with an RFID chip that reads your payment and allows you to fill up the mug. You do have to wait a couple of minutes between fill ups.  The chip reader won’t allow immediate back to back refills.

Are they worth it?

This is totally up to you and your travelling party. A lot of people don’t like them and think it’s not worth the hassle, but my group are big fans. We have used them on all of our trips (with the Disney Dining Plan).

Here is how we use them:

  • in the morning for coffee on the run to the bus stop
  • in the evening  to grab a cold beverage & take it back to our room after a long day
  • when we get a quick service meal at the resort
  • while we are at the resort pool
  • resort “snooping” ( you can use the mugs at ANY resort)
  • our to-go coffee mugs at home (they never leak)

They ARE clunky to carry around

You can’t use them inside the parks so a lot of folks don’t find it worth carrying around in their park bag.  If we have filled up on our way to the bus in the morning, we are kind of stuck with them anyway. We just put them in a gallon Ziploc bag and throw them in our park bags.

If we choose to resort “snoop” on the fly, then we have them handy. It’s up to you. I’ve seen a lot of people hook them to the outside of their park bags or strollers with a carabiner clips too. If you want a cold drink on your way back to the room after a long day in the parks, it will be handy to have with you. No one wants to run back up to their room to get the mug, and then back down to the self-service beverage station at the end of the night.
