How Disney World Transportation Works
(Updated 11/1/2021)
There are many absolutely FREE ways to get around at Disney World. Buses, boats, monorail, Skyliner and your feet will get you where you need to go. Yep, transportation to and from all of the parks and Disney Springs is FREE!!!
Once you have a general idea of which parks and resorts you are interested in, you can tip the scales by looking at how you get from the resorts to wherever you want to go.
Can I rent a car or drive my own during my Disney World vacation?
Yes. However, if you are staying on property at Disney World, the resorts and parks charge for parking for every night of your stay.
How reliable is this free transportation?
I have found the transportation to be pretty reliable considering the number of folks Disney has to shuttle around. That being said, they do run more buses during the morning and evening rush for opening and closing of the parks. The middle of the afternoon can sometimes have longer waits between buses.
Okay. It’s free but is it really worth it?
If you want to relax, sit back and enjoy not having to deal with the traffic and parking, then YES. You can spend your entire vacation in the “Disney Bubble” by allowing Disney to do all of the work. AND, it’s FREE!
So how do I figure out how to get from point A to point B?
It can be confusing trying to figure out how to get from one place to another. From the resorts to the parks, it’s pretty straightforward. Getting from resort to resort can get tricky and time consuming. Similarly, trips to and from Disney Springs are a little different. Below is a breakdown of how to understand and utilize the free transportation at Disney World as well as one Disney World fare based service.
